What to bring
What Republic Bank asks for when you open a e-Free in Guyana:
- One valid ID: a passport, a Guyana identification card, or a Guyana e-Identification card
- Proof of address: a utility bill (electricity, water or landline) issued within the last eight months, a longer window than most of the region allows
- Proof of income: a job letter or payslip if employed; an income and expenditure statement if self-employed
- Your TIN Certificate, required of every applicant including foreign nationals

Opening before you have moved, or while your status is still being sorted out? Republic Bank asks for these on top of the documents above:
- A banker's reference, subject to the bank's conditions
Good to know
- No monthly maintenance fee and no restrictions on deposits or withdrawals. ATM, point-of-sale and mobile banking (RepublicMobile) transactions are free; the first in-branch withdrawal each month is free, and further ones cost G$300 each.
- Interest is only calculated on a minimum monthly balance of G$25,000 and over, paid on the last day of the month. The current rate is 0.082%.
- Daily limits total G$700,000: G$200,000 at ATMs and G$500,000 online and at point of sale, with a G$75,000 contactless limit.
