Open a bank account in St Kitts and Nevis
Guidance on preparing to open a local bank account in St Kitts and Nevis, including the documents and practical steps that may apply to your move.
Where to go in St Kitts and Nevis
Bank: Republic Bank (EC) Limited
Account to ask for: e-Free Account
What to bring
What Republic Bank asks for when you open a e-Free Account in St Kitts and Nevis:
- A completed account application, done in branch or through Republic's online onboarding
- One or two valid forms of photo identification: passport, national ID card or driver's permit
- Proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill. If the bill is not in your name, bring the lease plus an authorisation letter from the account holder
- Proof of income: a job letter, a recent payslip, or business financials if you are self-employed
- The minimum opening deposit for the account
If you are not resident yet
Opening before you have moved, or while your status is still being sorted out? Republic Bank asks for these on top of the documents above:
- A utility bill covering the last three months, or your lease agreement
- Proof of income: job letter and payslip, or financials if you run a business
- A banker's reference letter from your current bank
- Your work permit, CARICOM Skills Certificate or student documentation, where these apply
Good to know
- No monthly maintenance fee. Three free in-branch teller debits a month, then an EC$17.55 monthly fee applies. No charge for using Republic's Blue Machine ABMs, and the account does not earn interest.
- Republic Bank (EC) Limited took over Scotiabank's Eastern Caribbean branches, so an old Scotiabank account here is now a Republic account.
